Victoria Mboko of Canada has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open tennis tournament following a decisive 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-0 victory over Russia's Mirra Andreeva. The 19-year-old Mboko, seeded 10th, battled through a lengthy match to secure her win.
Mboko, hailing from Burlington, Ontario, will face Karolina Muchová of Czechia in her next match. The 18-year-old Andreeva, the eighth seed, was unable to overcome Mboko's late-match surge.
In other singles action, Canada's Félix Auger-Aliassime, the seventh seed, was eliminated in the third round by France's Terence Atmane. Auger-Aliassime won the second set but ultimately fell in the deciding third set.
Both Mboko and Andreeva also participated in the women's doubles event, having won their Round of 32 match on Sunday. They were scheduled to play their Round of 16 match on Tuesday.
