Cowboys Bring Back Corey Ballentine

The Dallas Cowboys are bolstering their defensive depth by re-signing cornerback Corey Ballentine. The veteran defensive back has agreed to a one-year contract, keeping a familiar face within the team as the 2026 NFL Draft nears. Ballentine, originally a sixth-round pick in 2019, brings extensive experience from his time with multiple NFL franchises.

During the most recent 2025 season, Ballentine appeared in five games for the Cowboys, recording two total tackles. He was signed to the active roster on Christmas Eve after spending a significant portion of the year on the practice squad. Earlier in his career, Ballentine spent three seasons with the Green Bay Packers from 2022 to 2024, where he made a notable impact, appearing in 37 games with seven starts and tallying 54 tackles, two forced fumbles, seven pass breakups, and one interception.

Ballentine's journey includes stints with the New York Giants, New York Jets, Detroit Lions, and New England Patriots. With the Giants, he played in 22 games and returned 19 kickoffs for 447 yards. His return to Dallas provides a seasoned depth option for the Cowboys' secondary, contributing valuable experience gained across various teams and roles.
