Granite Bay High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday after authorities received a school shooting threat. The Placer County Sheriff's Office confirmed the threat was received at approximately 12:15 p.m.
Responding officers quickly worked to ensure the safety of students and staff, verifying there was no active shooter situation. A substantial law enforcement presence was noted on and near the campus as additional deputies arrived to assist.
Out of an abundance of caution, nearby schools also enacted lockdowns. During the emergency response, a Placer County deputy was involved in a vehicle crash while en route to the school. The deputy was transported to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
