Refn Judges Global Shorts Fest in Rome

Fondazione Piccolo America's Corto Condorello, a short film festival for global filmmakers under 35, will return to Cinema Troisi in Rome from December 11-13. Submissions open on November 6 via FilmFreeway, with a 10 euro fee. Films must not exceed 20 minutes and be completed after January 1, 2025, by directors born on or after January 1, 1992.
The international jury, chaired by renowned director Nicolas Winding Refn, will award the Golden Condorello. The audience will present the Silver Condorello. Both awardees secure a one-year distribution deal on the festival's partner platform, Mubi. Additionally, the Bronze Condorello, awarded by the audience, comes with a 500 euro voucher for Bar San Calisto.
The first edition in November 2024 saw 2,000 entries from 86 countries. This year's jury includes notable figures like Chiara Costa, Abel Ferrara, and James Bond screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. A new online award, the Pink Condorello, partnered with byNWR, will allow users to vote for their favorite film in competition, with the winner featured on byNWR for a year.
